Welcome to Grade 7 at SAMS!
Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new school year. We are excited in seventh grade to communicate and keep you informed of the many activities, events, and information relevant to your child's success this year at Shanghai American School. We have begun to develop this site as one means of keeping you informed. We invite you to take a look around at the various sections.
For example, the SAS related links will take you to many of the relevant areas of the larger Shanghai American School Community. As the school year progresses, we will post information related to China Alive and other LC or Grade Level Activities.

Welcome to 7 Gold
Dear Parents,
Welcome to 7 Gold Team.
It is hard to believe that the 2010-11 school year is already upon us! As we once again settle into the pace and change of Shanghai and SAS Puxi Middle School, our team would like you to know that your children and their academic/emotional growth is foremost in our minds as educators.
The developmental needs of middle school students pose unique challenges for parents, students, and teachers alike. Some of our grading policy changes, for instance, are reflective of the most current research in assessment practices.
In addition, we continue to offer an impressive array of curricular and extra-curricular activities at SAMS. We encourage both you and your student to investigate and participate in all we have to offer. Check it out and see how we can work together to develop healthy, well-rounded young adults.
We are all looking forward to meeting you at the Open House evening on Thursday, September 2. It will provide you with a good overall view of life at SAMS for the 2010-11 school year and our middle school philosophy.
Our first field trip for the year will be on September 10th for the 7 Grade Green Boat Bonding Day. Students will be participating in team bonding activities in each of their home bases, as well as completing a variety of multi-leveled physical activities. Information regarding Green Boat Bonding Day can be found on the Studio 7 website.
7 Gold students are distributed into 6 home base groups. The advisory program helps bridge the gap between the self-contained elementary school and the independent world of high school. The primary intention is to provide consistent, caring adult guidance and a supportive, stable peer group for every student.
Please contact your child’s home base teacher regarding absences and any general questions. Our counselor is Mr. Wolf, allen.wolf@saschina.org

Red Announcement
Welcome to the 2010-2011 School Year
Hello and welcome to 7 RED ! We're all looking forward to getting to know all of your students throughout the year and are confident that working together your children will not just grow intellectually, but socially and emotionally as well!
We're constantly striving to integrate best practice in conjunction with our own expertise in regard to your children in order to create the best experiences possible. To meet that end, we gather as a 7 Red team up to 3 times weekly in order to adjust and change instruction in order to best meet the needs of your children.
I will serve as the 7 Red communication liaison to you, the parent community, and will be updating you on the variety of ways you can stay abreast of the myriad happenings occurring throughout the year including celebrations, school functions, china alive forms, and course work.
However of course if at any point you have any questions, you are encouraged and welcomed to email any of your child's teachers directly. Trust me, we love getting emails from parents!

A friendly reminder that students are encouraged to come into school Monday, Aug 16 to meet their homebase teacher, receive their locker assignment and their course schedules.
